Although Plies has successfully become a rap superstar in less than one year, his core fan-base was built upon his ruthless truth-telling. On issues of crime, race and justice, Plies is aligned with N.W.A. and The Geto Boys for a no-nonsense approach. As his stardom has dusted that to the side of his mainstream releases, efforts like The Truth Hurts allow fans to see, and hear, what the Tallahassee rapper has to tell them. "Never Tell" is the antithesis, a code against snitching, whereas "Kno Sumthin'" pushes for awarenes. Sex songs and bragging finds its way on here, but its Plies hard-nosed approach that got him here.
