They flew in the face of pop stardom, erasing their humanity from their releases, the inadventent star duet went against the cult of the celebrity zooming in on the strobe light rather than the pop star below it. Already challenging on record, they decided that wasn't enough so they worked on the visual aspect as well. As a result, their videos have always made an instant impact, thanks to the enlistment young maverick video producers to visually interpret their work. These included Michel Gondry, Spike Jonze, Seb Janiak and Roman Coppola.
